Many campers were disappointed when Portage Bay camping was closed by order of Public Health, & DNR due to hand pump failure. After several attempts to resolve the issue by the DNR, Health Dept. and Kopecky Well Drilling and Pump Service it will still be several days before the campgrounds can be opened. With the installation of the new pump, other issues arose and once they are resolved, the water will be tested and then the site can be opened.

This update is very important for visitors and community members who rely on the campground facilities. Situations involving infrastructure issues like a failing well pump highlight how essential proper maintenance and reliable utilities are for public spaces and outdoor recreation areas. I appreciated the clear communication provided in the notice, as timely updates help people plan accordingly and stay informed about safety and operational concerns. Transparency during temporary closures helps build trust and community understanding. As someone who also follows community wellness and public awareness discussions through Healthmedsrx, I truly value informative announcements that prioritize safety, responsible management, and clear communication for everyone affected.
